'Worm' coming out of Ram's mouth

Hi, I bought this fish today, after in tank maybe only an hour I noticed this worm coming out of its mouth as shown in attached photo. Can anybody tell me what this is please? Many thanks

Are you sure the thing is coming out of the fish's mouth and the fish didn't find the item in the tank and is trying to eat it?
See if you can catch the fish and see if it spits the worm out, or grab the worm and pull it out.

The fish is pretty skinny and appears to have a creamy colour to the muscle tissue under the skin. This can be from a microsporidian infection. (More pictures showing the whole fish might offer more info). You can treat microsporidian infections with salt. The skinny fish could be from lack of food or intestinal worms.
