World Record Breaking Collosal Squid

cheeky moo.. oh.. the link... ok ;)

Squid ( not so collosal)

When they said the calimari would be like tractor tires, do you think they meant size or that they'd be as tough as rubber? :-(

dunno, i imagine it'd be pretty hard to cook them, v easy to overcook and ruin calamari and with the size of them i reckon it'd be hard to time

Very interesting, isn't it a shame we have to kill these creatures to find out anything about them though.

yeah, i don't know if they did kill it or not though, the article's not very clear, they just say it was on the brink of death :/

i won't pretend i know the slightest thing about the species but at a guess it's the same as the frilled shark that turned up a few months ago, it was only anywhere near humans because it was dying anyway

Will someone take Lisa a pot noodle round.

Yeah it looks like it was dying because of the struggle to catch it. But as next to nothing seems to be known, as is the case with the frilly shark an most other deep sea fish, this is probably a rare find and quite an important scientific discovery so it will almost certainly be killed as they wont have the facilities to keep a deep sea creature alive. Maybe I'm wrong as is very often the case.
