Woot, Got Nitrite Spike Finally Need Help Fishless Cycle

yea that was not really an option. I had Ich 2 times in the 28 gallon tank. I used the add fish cycle method and it did not work well like the fs said. I used the Bio-Spira product. Seems almost every time I added a new fish I got ICH. I set that aquarium up mid January so I am new to this hobby. I lost alot of fish at the onset so I did not want to do that again.
Now everything is fine in the 28 gallon tank and fish are happy, except maybe the von rio's due to the Angels being food hogs, but no ich. So I think I did not really have that option with media as I did not want any diseases in the new tank or I would have used some of that media, gravel, etc in new tank.
I am hoping this all cycles out. I obviously have the cycle started and had a nitrite spike, have nitrate, and ammonia was processing the 4 ppms daily until I did water Change today due to low PH at around 6.4. Not sure if the ammonia will cycle tommorrow morning or if my cycle will have to catch up again. I did not w8 for PH to get to 6.0 or yellow color on my API test kit.
Now PH is back up to 7.4-7.6. Added the 2 PPM of ammonia and will w8 and see what happens I guess.
My main goal is to move my fish from the 28 gallon to the 65 gallon. The fish store said they would take the von-rio's if I was concerned they were not getting enough food as the Angels eat everything including the vegie wafers I put in for the albino corey's and clown loaches. I was maybe thinking of adding 2 Red Marlboro discus to the tank as they were a little larger and would not be bullied by the angels more than likely.
Thanks for all your guys help I will continue to post my results and thank you for all your advice and future advice.

If the filter in the 28 is processing the ammonia and nitrite as it should, you can move the filter (or just the media) and all the fish to the new tank without cycling the new tank at all.

This wouldn't be fish-in cycling like you did before because you already have a cycled filter which is capable of dealing with the waste those fish produce. The aim of the fishless cycle is to produce this, and you already have it.

As for Ich, if no fish are ill now and you have treated it with a proprietary Ich treatment, i wouldn't worry about it at all.

I think it could still be an option Jeff. It's basically taking the filter and fish and water from the old tank and moving to the new. The only thing which changes is the glass house they are kept in.

Maybe worth considering. Just a thought.

Cheers :good:
