Two things happened to me the other day!

1. I contracted conjunctivitis

2. 11 baby guppies appeared in my tank

I have been unsucessful raising fry before and after saparating them into a breeding trap, dove into research. I bought them some liguifry2 to start the little uns off which if you are unfamiliar with is in a little bottle. Extreemly similar to the little bottles of eye drops you get from the doctors for infected eyes! Can you see where this is going??

I think we can safely say that liquifry should not be used for the topical treatment of an infected eye!!!!! :(

Oh no!!!

I know I shouldn't laugh, but....

Had to laugh..... Could have been worse if it were the other way round.

haha Im sorry but this made me howl. Surely you see the funnyside now? Yeah as said above atleast it wasnt the other way round :)

First let me say that eye thing happens all the time. I knew a woman that put instant glue in her eye 2TIMES because she thought it was her eye drops.

As for the fry I raise guppies and the best fry food is spirulina flakes crushed into a powder. I have a dedicated mortar and pestal just for this task. If you don't have one then a spoon and small bowl will do the trick. Just put a couple pinches in the bowl and repeatedly crush it with the spoon for about 5 minutes. Feed you fry at least 2 times a day for the first 2 weeks, then once a day after that.

+1 joefish

And I'm still chuckling ...

After the inital stinging wore off I thought it was the funniest thing in the world!! strangely enough my eye feels so much better now too! ;).

My babbies are currently living on a selection of foods including liquifry2, frozen cyclops, very small daphnia and as joefish72 reccomended crushed up spirulina flakes. My mum bought me a marble pestle and mortar for xmas and i've only used it for fish food so far (don't let her know that). They get fed one of the selection 4 times a day and after 10 mins whatever hasn't been eaten is "hoovered up" along with their daily excriment.

I currently have a 60 litre tank and the babies are living in a little breeding trap at the top, transferring them into a mesh trap once the're big enough and currently running an ickle filter in the main tank so when i get another small tank I'm gonna move the babies and ickle filter into that (hopefully the ickle filter will have nice "friendly" bacteria in by then). also gonna put my endliers gups in here too as I am overcrowded at the moment!

Ok I'm an idiot!! Thought spirulina was a brand name like "tetra min" or something and have been crushing up my normal fish's flakes for them. Until i glanced at captain jacks algae wafers that said " with spirulina"

We all gotta start somewhere!!!!

I used to have this problem kinda like that. So I would feed the fish. Then my eyes would water and I would rub them. Fish food particles would get in my eyes. And then I was trapped in if-you-scratch-it-gets-itchier phenomenon.
