I've ordered some substrate, a glass CO2 diffuser and some ferts, to start EI dosing. Its coming Wednesday, so when the wife goes to work on Sunday, I can strip out the tank, put the new substrate in, and try and arrange the tank to my liking.

Or at least I thought I could until me Kribs proudly showed my their first brood today! Every other attempt at baby kribs has failed, so I thought this one would too.

I'm concerned about moving them as they are so small, so the the re-arrangment of the tank will have to wait, I guess!

Mind you, I'm quite chuffed that they managed it! :D

Mmmmm... Kribs in a planted tank. As you've no doubt noticed, they're keen "gardeners".

Congrats on the brood. I successfully rearer Kribs many years ago - great fun to watch the parents and young..

Might have just been my Krib but he rooted up little swords and was a right pain. Got rid of him and can now plant the chain swords without fear of them being dug up with 5 mins.

Maybe I'm lucky, but I've had no problems with the Kribs 'gardening' at all. My ancistrus is a bit of a monkey when it comes to new plants that arn't rooted well yet, but thats about it.

In the tank, I already have Amazon swords, Vallisneria spiralis, cryptocoryne sp., Aponogetone sp. and Ludwigia Rosaefolia. They are all growing fairly well, with a small amount of hair algea, which the baby Kribs are helping with!

The plants are all pretty much background plants, so I'm researching midground and foreground plants.

As i'm a electrical engineer by trade, I've used my contacts to buy some 30 W T5 HO ballasts (£30), and once I can get some T5 IP67 endcaps, I'll be upgrading my lighting to above 2WPG, as it's currently 1.6WPG. Arcadia do some, but are having production problems, apparently. This may lead to an upgrade from my Nutrafin Yeast CO2 system to a homebrew pressurised system. :)
