Has anyone tried using Oak and/or Beech wood in their tank(s)? Apparently they're safe for aquarium use. People use the leaves ontop of the substrate in their Dwarf Cichlid breeding tanks. It also looks awesome and so natural.

I have never tried it or really ever read anything on this but I would have thought it would be ok. You want to avoid the conifer species like pine and cedar as they are oily, but so long as the oak/beech is well matured in a wood yard all the sap should have gone. If in dount try it in a bucket of water on its own before adding it to the tank.
