I jus bought some wood to put into my tank and im not sure what i should do with it? Do i boil it in some water or leave it i some water for a day or so???

If it's not sinking, then you can try to boil it or just leave it in water. Usually I keep them in a tub about week or two and then brush them well.

We bought a chunk of driftwood from a pet store and the clerk recommended to keep it in regular water overnight to prevent water discoloration in the tank. That's all we had to do, and it looks great.

If ur worried about bacteria, etc, then just stick it in a bucket of Noelberg's special tonic: aquarium salt and melafix. overnight will do fine.

u can also soak it well and stick it in the oven for a bit - i prefer this method to boiling because it doesn't break down the wood as much.

1) Put in water - leave overnight.

2a) If the water in the morning is only a little yellow or not at all, just scrub/rinse (or dinsifect as noelburg says if feeling cautious). Congratulations you bought nice biddable wood...

2b)If the water is very yellow and you don't want yellow tank water you need to either soak it for as long as it takes for the yellow to come out (using hot water if poss), or boil it in a pan.

I have to soak for about 2 weeks in a bucket as I can't fit wood in any of my pans - boiling is a lot faster. Put a tea bag in cold water and see how long it takes for it to brew to prove this :)

If you don't mind orange water just soak overnight and chuck it in :)
