Hi eveyrone ,
anybody got any ideas on how to sterilise bog wood that i collected from a park? the wood is really long about 2 feet, 50 -60 cms. and yes i know your suppose to boil it but i ain't got no pot big enough for that ! :p

Oh how long do you think i should submerse it ? or this may seems like a whacked up idea, but would putting sticks in oven work?

Thanks Reggie

You could cook it in the oven but I would just soak it in water. I've never had any problems with that. Occasionally there is a small amount of harmless white fungus that goes away in a month or two.

Leave it in the airing cupboard, any place that will dry it out, a few weeks of being dry should kill most things, and anything that can survive being dried wont be able to survive being under water so putting it in a tank would kill whats left I would think. You cou dalso use a bath?

Sam

Or buy a cheap plastic bin to soak it in maybe.

Don't forget to dechlorinate the water you soak it in. Don't want it leaching chlorine when its in your tank :)

scrubbed mine with a little brush.. :| it didnt look dirty, but OHBOY it was dirty.

edot: i saw a pic with sticks/branches and it looks AWESOME :)
