I have got a couple of peices of reg gum and they are at the moment sitting in the bath. The water ion there doesn't look too bad tanning wise but I was wondering if they do tan the water in my tank is there anyway of getting rid of it so that the tank is clear again.

Would water changes fix this and how much water would I need to take out at a time

Has anyone had this happen to them and if so what did you do or how long did it take you to get rid of it

Thanks

i would expect at least some, browning if the water. and usually water changes do the trick. though you can remove more using some carbon, in its own filter. if you keep inverts, there's a fair chance they would like a bit of "tinnin in the water. i know Crayfish are very comfortable with it, some say the prefer it!

fish and inverts do like tannins in their water, personally i just boil it a little bit, so ive got some tannins. I think it looks nice too.

I put the wood in this arvo and am happy to say that there isn't much to no tanning at all so I am happy with that and the way the tank turned out

can you pop up a pic of your work?

Give it time. :p Tannins always leach out, it's just a matter of time before they concentrate to a point you see them. I have a bunch of wood out soaking right now in a tub. Every two-three days I have to dump it and get fresh water in there to help keep the tannins leaching.
