hello,
About mid November I got my bamboo shrimp. I originally got three, one died a couple of days after I introduced him to the tank (unknown reasons) and the other two lived perfectly fine. They filtered the water with their claws, moved around the tank actively ect. However, beginning of December I had to go abroad for a couple days and had someone look after my fish. The person looking after my tank had absolutely no knowledge of fish... so all they did was feed them. Ever since I came back from my trip (which was 4 days) my shrimp have been acting weird.
They both suddenly lost the ability to balance and swim, they wouldn’t filter or walk about in the tank. Usually whenever I’d clean my tank they would jump and swim away and glide on the tank walls.. this time they would walk and fall over on their back.. they had absolutely no ability to turn upright and could not swim. They would turn their bottom up and sink to the bottom if I tried to move them. One has died about a week after my return, and the other has seem to made a slight recovery.. he seems to be more active and I tend to see him walking about the tank. He still can’t swim and he still struggles if he falls.. but he definetly looks more lively now..
My tank if fully cycled, I have 0 ammonia. I would just like to know what could possibly have happened to him.. and what could’ve caused this.. my only idea is over feeding... I’m not too sure what could’ve gone wrong. Please let me know if there is something that I can do to help him!
