My pair has finally laid eggs, after months of wondering if they would. Anyway, does anyone know anything about their habits with fry and eggs. I don't want to come home one day, with all of the eggs/fry gone, since I'm pretty much clueless about them. The internet is no help either, :grr: . Anyway, I'll post pictures when I get the chance! :hyper:

Congrats on the eggs. I've never kept any species of Geo. but I know that some will take the fry into their mouth once they hatch (I don't think this species does, but im not 100%).

If this is their first batch though, I wouldn't be suprised if they eat the eggs/fry, but you may get lucky and they get it right first time.

If the eggs hatch and the fry become free swimming you can start feeding them BBS (Baby Brine Shrimp) and really fine crushed flake food, atleast 3 times a day. Keep your water clean and in top condition, I'd recommended 10-20% changes every 2-3 days, remember to de-chlorinate and get the temperatures somewhere around the same level.

Are there any other fish in the tank? If you have any Catfish / Plecs you may want to consider moving them to another tank, as they will eat eggs.

Hope that helps!

Sorry for the long delay... I haven't been on in a long time. Anyway, they were the only ones in the tank. I don't know if they ate the eggs (the eggs were in the gravel for a few days) or ate the fry when they hatched, but all traces of the spawn dissapeared. Oh well. Now the male is beating the crap out of the female, so I seperated them. Maybe if I put them together again another time, they will spawn again. (They were seperated for the same reason before).
