I saw a wolf tetra (Hydrocynus goliath) today! They dont come along often! i wanted to buy it so much! but i think it would have my fish for breakfast!!

you really wouldn't be able to keep them in a tank, any tank. they are a schooling fish and grow to a massive 133 cm.

Kudos to you for resisting the urge to buy them

Yeah i was reading up on them and now im not entirely sure it was Hydrocynus goliath,

Maybe just a nickname for a nasty tetra!

I dont think my local fish suppliers would be so irrisponsible to sell such an inappropriate fish!! :S

Thanks for the reply!

Wolf tetra is usually a common name used for Hoplias malabaricus.

Most Hydrocynus imported are actually Hydrocynus vittatus which is a smaller specis, true Hydrocynus goliath are quite rare and almost never imported.
