Ok...so since the stuipd damsles shredded my damn Yellow Tang, I have no more decent sized fish left in my tank. I returned the most aggressive damsel and t bought a Wolf Eel. Now that my eel is picking the other damsels off one by one, what will be a compatible fish to put in that tank? It's in my 55 gallon tank, I have a lawnmower blenny that I'm slightly worried about getting eaten by the eel. I was gonna get a pepperming shrimp today, but the guy told me the eel would just eat it. What other kind of inverts and fish would go with this eel?

You may soon discover the importance of researching before you buy.

Can I have a scientific name, picture for this fish? One fish called a 'wolf eel' can reach lengths of 8'. Not a misprint.

Yeah...I used to have the compatibility chart bookmarked, but then lost in somehow. Here are the pictures though:

Sorry for the crappy quality by the way, only camera I have is my cellphone.....

You got lucky this time. :shifty: The fish you have is the large psuedochromid Congrogadus subduscens, which does not grow overly large and in general is a very desirable fish for aquaria (in my case, anyway).

I am surprised to hear that the 'eel' is picking off your fish. They are usually secretive and docile. As for compatability, remember that your fish is nothing more than an overgrown psuedochromid; so shrimps and small true crabs are probably out.

Ok....new issue...."eel" won't eat the krill I gave it. It keeps trying to eat the damsels and is having no luck. Should I go buy it live feeders?

Not unless they originate in salt water. Do not feed it a single goldfish; if you absolutely have to feed it a freshwater feeder, stick with a poeciliid such as a guppy or molly.

That's a green wolf eel that they sell all the time at petco. Shouldn't get longer than a foot and a half long. Try frozen silver sides since they're a lot cheaper than guppies per fish, just for a start. You may have to use some tongues and wiggle it around to eventually wean the eel to eat it without worrying if it's alive or not.

Do you have an extra tank to store other fish? I was using a 10 gallon tank inside my stand to keep my rosy red minnows until I found out they were not a good idea. I think I'll start using it again with guppies thanks to Lyndon's idea.
