well this is when it all started...
2 days ago (friday) i bought 2 ottos, when i put them in my tank on saturday i noticed that every now and then they would swim towards the filter where the outflow is comming out a hole. but instead was being blown back and all aorund my tank untill they could find summit to grab onto.
So when i was doing a waterchange on Sunday i decided to also change the current of the pump, I turned a knob which closed like a door on the hole where the water flows out of only leaving a small gap, this reduced the pressure that was comming out of the outtake and wasnt blowing my ottos around anymore who could swim around freeley
so i was happy.
Untill today this morning when i have woken up and saw a horrible sight, a otto (i have no idea why) had swam into the outtake hole and was sucking on the "door" i mentioned only about 3 centremeters away from the pump. the otto looked a bit still so i tapped it but it stayed. then i notcied it was solid.....and i knew it was dead. So i had to do what i didnt want to...i pulled it out hopping that its head wouldnt all be mangled by the pump...at first i thought it was asleep but it didnt move to the touch...or the pulL! and when i yanked it out it just flaoted to the bottom of the tank and i knew it was dead. So i quickyl removed it from the tank and washed my hands.
I came back to my horror that i cant find my other otto! no idea where it is but ill have a better look when i get home from work tonight. jeese, why did that stupid fish swim in there ?!? and how can i stop it from happening in the future? or was it a fluke?
im thinking of putting the current back on but if i get anymore it may be more stressfull for the fish and itll only die by stress.the thing that im confused by is since the fish swam into the hole that blows the water out and so nothing was actaully keeping it sucked in there
