Wobbly Male Guppy

Bless Him. R.I.P.

Immediate water change, and run some fresh black carbon.
It could of been the med that killed the others.
When you have inverts it best to issolate them when using meds.
I would invest in a issolation tank.

Thanks again Wilder. Indeed, QT tank is my next port of call, i shall save my pennies for one!

Get an issolation tank as soon as you can afford it.
Good Luck.

what size would you recommend for keeping small fish like guppies and shrimp? My 28L is small enough as it is...

Do you know if there's a thread on setting one up, cycling, filter requirements, substrate and plants etc?

I wouldn't really keep livebearers in less than a 10 gal. So why not buy a bigger tank, and use the 28l as a issolation tank.

That's the long term plan!

When i'm qualified and not on a student budget (and in a cramped flat) i shall invest in a larger tank!

However, I don't qualify until 2012 so i have to think short term.

My girlfriend bought me the 28L for my birthday last year bless her, it was so thoughtful but obviously it's a bit limiting (in more ways than one!).

My sons a student at uni so know how you feel.
Money can be tight.

If you havent the room for another tank I would leave it.
You are very limited to what you can keep in a 28l tank.
Think about keeping a betta fish instead of livebearers.
Never had any luck with guppys.

My other male guppy is now displaying similar signs despite the meds still being in the tank.

His tail has literally disintegrated overnight, and he's gone from a brilliant irridescent navy/green to a dull black. Very slight grey dustiness on him, but he's perfectly lively and has in fact stopped swimming against the filterhead current.

He's still eating well.

I'm never keeping guppies again!!!

Need to look at your water stats.

Any signs of flicking and rubbing, excess mucas, darting, erratic swimming, laboured breathing, or gasping.
Any red pin prick marks on the fish.

Anti internal bacteria not that good. Lfs meds are only good on mild bacteria infections.

Lost any fish to bent spines.

I'll do a water change. That'll dilute the med but i guess it's not working anyway.

He's not flicking or darting, breathing is fine and no red marks. Just the swimming on the spot against the current i've noticed him doing again.

No fish with bent spines ever.

Ok.
Sadly once bacterial infections advance there hard to cure.

Just going to refresh my memory be looking at page one again.

Has your ph changed.

That's fine.

You can double dose the interpet med in severe cases. But it will knock water stats abit.
I would only recommend double dosing in issolation.

To be honest, considering how quickly his friend went, i don't think he's much longer for this world poor little chap.

The danios are tough little things, not bothered in the slightest.

Bigger tank needed before dabbling with other species i think.

Thanks Wilder.
