Has anyone kept/cultivating wingless fruitfly. I have kept them in the past but found them very awkward to deal with when transferring them from their breeding medium to the fish tank for feeding. I would like to ask two questions really. What medium do you use for cultivating them? and any ideas for a simple method of transfering them from their receptical to the tank without them escaping all over the place.
Many thanks in advance.

You mean getting them from the culture to the tank? Ummm.. probably a better method but what about something like an upturned funnel? I'm not sure what medium you use for them though.

Breed them in nutrient agar and collect adults by placing the culture in the dark box with a small hole in the box making a point on light. place a net over the hole and the adult flies will go towards the light & collect in the net.

Thanks, SirMinion, just the type of answers I'm looking for here, Nice One!

Mix:
1 cup mashed potatoes mix, a tablespoon of sugar and a pinch of yeast. Mix the ingredients; add some vinegar (helps to prevents mold) and water. Mix. You might have to add more water or potatoes mix if it is too dry or wet. I myself make it on the dry side.

I then use 20 oz. soda bottles for the cultures. I put some small holes at the top of the bottle, thumbtack. I cut the bottle in half. Place some of the mix in the bottom of the bottle. Tear a piece of paper towel and place in bottle. Cut a small reverse "v" into the top piece. This is so you can place the top into the bottom section a little. I then duct tape the pieces together again. Use a funnel to place some fruitflies from another culture into the new culture. 1 cup of mix is good for 3 20 oz. bottles.
