Hello, in my 29 gallon, i have a little over 2.0 WPG, and im currently using CO2. Im planning on keeping these plants:

Anachris
Amazon Swords
Dwarf Sagittaria
Java Fern
Java Moss
Water Sprite
Cabomba

What ferts should i use? I was thinking root tabs and KNO3 (Potassium Nitrate).

Any ideas?

I read that already, but thanks though. I kinda wanted a first hand experience. Like what works well for someone else.

Anyone have a first hand experience on ferts? Oh, and if i only use Potassium nitrate and root tabs, what should my weekly schedule be?

A lot of us have "first hand experience" with ferts.

It is impossible for us to suggest a weekly schedule for your individual needs without you first establishing your tank with plants. You need to figure out whether you need to add nitrates (NO3) at all to start with.

As suggested the EI article is a good reference for you. Please don't be offended if we cannot give you instant answers to your questions, they simply cannot be answered instantly. Unfortunately fertilisation is not a simple subject with regards high-growth tanks and some of your own "homework" needs to be undertaken.

If there is anything you don't understand in the article or you need furthur advice then please ask.

if you looking for a recomended trace fertiliser i'd recomend troipca master grow noticed a vast improvment when using this. your soposed to add once a week after your water change but i split my dose into 3 and add over the week! water change wednesday and add fert then dose on friday and monday.

OK, maybe ill look for that too.

I guess ill have another look at that article then. But on days 2,4, and 6, it says add 5ml trace? What trace is that talking about? Fe?

Hi

From what I can tell trace means everything that isn't phosphate, nitrate, potassium or iron, all the other things. I know you're in america but this link gives you an idea of what a trace mix includes.

Hope this helps

Sam

Oh, ok. If i dont add trace, what should i add on that day? Like seachem flourish.

Haven't a clue Im afraid! The trace is importance became it does what it says on the time, adds all the trace elements the plants need, not sure if there is a 'substitute'.

Sorry I cant be more help

There are 17 essential elements that aquatic plants need, broken down into 2 main groups, macronutrients and micronutrients.

"Trace" elements refer to micronutrients, of which there are eight.

Iron
Manganese
Chlorine
Zinc
Boron
Nickel
Copper
Molybdenum

The rest are macronutrients. FYI, the nine macronutrients are:

Hydrogen
Oxygen
Carbon
Nitrogen
Potassium
Calcium
Magnesium
Phosphorus
Sulfur

Seachem Flourish or Tropica Master Grow are two examples of products that provide trace elements.

So on days 2,4, and 6, when you're supposed to add 5ml trace, use the Seachem Flourish.

This article is very useful if you want to know the basics about nutrients and which are essential, and is where I got the above info on micro and macronutrients from.
