My female black molly just had about 20+ babies. I noticed today that once I put her back into the tank, the male has been attacking her, and bit her in several places. The babies are in a breeding net in the tank, from past experience, I've found this to be the best way to keep them alive, just in the same tank but in the net. My question is if I put in some Melafix or Quickfix, to help out the female, will this hurt the newborn babies. They are only 3 days old. Thanks for your help. I don't want to kill the babies, but I do want to help the mother.

I never use full recomended doeses ...... aqaurium salt will be good for the tail restoration and if the mollies were brackish at one point it could help them and the babies period ..... Mollies naturally are brackish ... Most molly species some from the "wild" sailfin molly ..... So the black molly still has some genes from the sailfin and salt may help but it may not do to new species being raised in completely fresh water
