Hi all,

I have a 240litre tank with a fluval 405 and a hydor koralia 1 powerhead, I add TPN+ and EasyCardon currently at the recommended for the tanks size and plant levels.

I am planning to get a pressurised Co2 system for the tank soon, but what I'm wondering is will this system get rid of the aglae that I currently have (once I get the levels right) or will I physically have to clean it off the glass and hardscape?

Also what is the best way to get rid of it off sand...?

Thanks in advance!

How much light do you have?
What types of algae is it?
Algae on the sand? Could be BGA which isn't causes by lack of CO2, but lack of NO3 and too much organic waste in the water.
BBA, Staghorn/hair algaes and even GSA can be caused by low/fluctuating CO2. When combating any algae, we always recommend to manually remove as much as you can, in combination with whatever you are fixing, whether that be increasing CO2, or nutrient levels.

I think it looks more like Green Dust Algae, but I must admit there does seem to be a patch of BGA growing...

I'm lead to believe that my light levels are relatively low, currently using 2x39w T5s. I have plans to buy reflectors when I get the Co2 system.

how long do you have your lights on daily, maximum needed is 8 for plants.

thats caused by too much light for too long, you need to invest in maybe a few snails or plec to clear all of that up, buy some fast growing stem plants, put co2 on there, and start dosing an all in one solution, such as TPN+

edit: sorry, just read that you already use it, in that case, increase dosing! and try and get as much algae out as you can.
and also, bring down that powerhead, and blast from left to right, aiming at the wood.

Do you mean so that it is pointing straight across horizontally?

Also, I haven't notice much in the way of growth out of my plants... Baring in mind the lighting, and that I am already dosing TPN+ is it the lack of Co2 that is stopping this?

I had some HC in there and tho it wasn't doing well it was surviving until I accidentally turn the temp up too high... I also have some Lilaeopsis brasiliensis in there but it's not spreading out in the slightest...
