i've finally decided to convert my tanks to sand and anm just wondering if plants are okay in sand?

cheers :)

Sand is Very Inert.
Little to No nutrition

you might need either root tabs or some Nutrition substrate below it

I'm using Tetra tec Eco complete myself

Yep...all true.

It depends on what plants your talking about, but all will benefit greatly from root tabs or a plant substrate underneath the plants.
Especially if it's a new tank, the sand wont even have any dirt like fish poop in it, the plants wont be getting any nutrients from their roots.

cool, i will get some eco complete or something as a base substrate and top it with sand, right?

im running sand and use api root tabs at the moment and my 3 swords are fine. i also have some reed (name is unknown) , anubias and 2 types of echindorus all growing fine in sand. im running about 1.5WPG
