i'm not sure if there was a tread regarding this started already, even so, i cant find any.

i've been keeping fishes for a number of years now, and my tanks dont really have plants. the fishes i keep dont really allow me to do so. but i've been wondering, if you add aquatic fertilizers for plants in your tank, will it cause any harm to the fishes which are inside the tank?

I guess CO2 in a way can be considered a plant fertiliser, a lot of people who focus on planted tanks add extra CO2 to their tanks to boost plant growth, but i know this can be a risky process if you are keeping fish in the tank as well and have not researched using C02 in tanks enough before using it, as it can cause the fish to suffocate if not used properly.

Personally, the only plant fertiliser i really use is "flora boost" by Interpet, all of my plants are pretty hardy and easy to care for, so i rarely add fertilisers to the tank, but Flora Boost is absolutely fine to use with fish (or at least it always has been in my experience and to my knowledge, i've used it for many years now), it comes with clear dosage intructions and is easy to apply to the tank  .

I used some plant fertliser tablets a couple of times for potting aquarium plants up in small tubs with foam in them in the tank also, i forget the name of the tablets but i will see if i can find it out for you if i still have any of the plant fertiliser tablet boxs lying around, all i remember was that the tablets were very good and i noticed a good prolonged spurt in growth in the plants which received the fertiliser tablets- the fish were absolutely fine too :good: .

liquid plant ferts will not harm fish if you use the right ones. you have to use the ones for aquarriums and ponds with live fish. ive been using nutrifin plant gro for over a year with no problims. after i use it my hornwort (spelling?) grows over 1" per day. lol i end up feeding the hornwort (spelling?) to my goldies in my goldies holding tank.
