hi all, im jayne and i live in sunny devon, my life mostly revolves around my family and animal rescue, (cats, dogs, rodents and reptiles mostly)and i'm hoping you can advise me. my dad was a tropical fish keeper all his life, and for donkeys years ive wanted a tank of my own, the problem is my dad died several years ago and although ive taken the plunge and bought a small starter tank, i am stuck on how to start it, i have nowhere to go for advice except a shop who want to sell me everything, as a child the tanks he had were all established and i only remember the odd snippet of info so im hoping i can pick your brains, and not get ripped off by the shop
thanks in advance :)

First of all welcome to a great hobby. Ask as many questions as you need to. One thing I learned working at a pet store, was that most people don't ask questions until they have problems.
I think you will get plenty of info on this site. For more specific information on specific fish, I would recommend seriouslyfish.com that's how I found this site.

thankyou, be prepared, i mght be askng a few daft questions, i can be a bit...erm, blonde at tmes

i have to find somewhere for the tank to go first, might have to rearange the lounge around the christmas tree, the chinchillas and the pen with feral kittens in

Hi

Check out the beginners centre at the top in the new freshwater section.  Particularly on cycling the tank.   This will depend on if you have fish or not.

After that ask away to fill in the details.

Good luck.

Good morning and welcome to the forum! :good: I also do animal rescue but I went one step farther. I do wildlfe rescue too. Nice to have you here. Remember, the only dumb questions are the ones you don't ask.
