Hi there,

will nardoo sp. carpet the foreground under low light? And is it hard/delicate to plant individual plants into the substrate?

Regards Darren

nardoo is a far too generic term, if you provide the sp. name of the marsilea that you want to grow, (the only two aquatic types i know are marsilea hirsuta and marsilea minuta) then you might get some more answers back.

Hi there,

these are the 2 sp. available to me

Marsilea drummondii
Marsilea hirsuta

Regards Darren

both of those species will do well in medium to high light wether they would carpet under low light i am unsure, i think they would try to reach for the light and get a bit gangly, you could try something like dwarf sagittaria. (sag, subulata) but that does get quite tall.

I've grown marsilea hirsuta on 1.4WPG (T5 with good reflectors). It stayed pretty small, 2 inches max, but closer to 1.5", and grew quite densly. My marsilea hirsuta behaves strangely, though. It has retained a mostly four-lobed structure, whereas most hirsuta will convert to a 1-lobed structure when under water. Could be the lower light levels that has caused this.
