My brother gave me his dwarf gourami because it was being stressed by his oscars, his greeny colour has faded alot and he looks quite pale, he is swimming and eating fine but I think he is getting better. Will he return to his original colour and how long will it take?
Thanks,

Neal

Assuming it's not sick, yes, its color should come back once its settled. Having said that, if your tank isn't suited to it, it willr emain stressed and, besides never regaining the color, it could die (though keeping it with oscars is bound to be worse than whatever setup you've got him in!)

His colour has come back fine, my brother needs to do some bloody research, 2 oscars in a frigging 2ft tank! I've just read up on oscars and that doesn't appear to be good! He won't listen to me or the internet so there is no point in me trying, he keeps a silver shark in a 2ft tank along with the oscars and his tank is like 4x overstocked with 2 bristlenose plecs, a black ghost knife fish (another big fish!) and a ram! He may have kept fish for years but he certainly doesn't have a clue how to look after them. I would take them off him but he's 10 years older than me and i'm only 14, so I don't have much choice. I'm gonna try get him to come on the forum but I doubt he will!
Thanks for your help,
Neal
