Will My Blue Lobster Come Out At Night To Feed?

About three weeks ago I purchased a blue cobalt lobster online. I put it in a quarantine tank and then put it in my main tank two days ago. I made a nice shelter for it out of the large rocks that were in the tank. Only the baby convicts can get in the shelter. My question is will the lobster come out of his shelter at night to feed? He can't go very far at all from his shelter during the day because the oscar and the adult female convicts take a keen interest in him and he scurries back to his shelter.

95 Gallon Quarter Cylinder Tank
400 GPH Emporer Power Filter

1 9" Red Oscar
2 3" Female Convict Cichlids
1 3" Red-finned Shark (Rainbow)
1 3" Male Three-spot Gourami
1 5" Non-common Pleco
12 0.5"-1" Baby Convicts (That the Oscar is ignoring, but hopefully the lobster will eat)

I'd be more concerned with the lobster coming out and eating one of the other fish. I used to have one, who I bought without claws. I was away for about a month, and he grew them back and attacked the other fish. They are great pets if they are kept on their own though. I used to have 1 that would jump up and grab his pellets. It might be a good idea to get him his own lil tank, if you have room. I'd be really worried about the pleco, because they've allways seemed slow and lazy to me.

Your lobster knows it is dinner the second it comes out of the rocks. Or when it molts. You should find it a new home as soon as possible.

I'm also a bit surprised the gourami is doing alright in that setup.

Is there a male convict somewhere helping to make those babies?

Good luck...

The blue lobster is going to be an expensive treat for the oscar. Oscars eat crayfish, its part of their natural diet. I would also expect the gourami, shark and probably the female convicts to come up missing or dead and ripped up at some point. Oscars eat small fish. It will happen eventually even if they all get along right now.

There was a male convict, but he's gone now. So, all that's left is the females and babies...

I've heard that oscars eat whatever will fit in their mouths, but only the red-finned shark can fit...and the babies.
