Will Melafix treat missing Scales?

Hi all,

Posted a similar question in emergencies but no response so I wondered If anyone in here would Know........

Basically I noticed some scales missing on my silver sharks and I was wondering

a)what caused it
B) Will melafix cure it

Could be many reasons...

They might have bumped or scratched into something...mosty likely thats what it is was. That or it could be illness, don't know what illness would cause that besides stress.

When you say Silver to you mean Bala shark? If you mean Bala's, there very skittish and are clumsy fish. So most likely they just bumped into something. Try to take out anything sharp in your tank, that will help in less injuries in the future.


Melafix will help yes. Sometimes scales grow back and other times they just dont. Usually in a cycled healthy tank, scales will grow back on there own. You will just have to wait and see!

Yeah, most likely they bumped into something they do that alot.
Add melafix and see what happens, Like I said before in a healthy tank they should heal on there own.


Do you have anythinjg sharp or pointy in your tank that might of caused it do you think? if thats the case it might happen again. If there is something sharp I would take it out but thats just me.

Yea there are a couple of rocks with sharp-ish edges, but they are really nice ones (and expensive!). Looks like I'm gonna hve to take them out and replace them with something else.
