I bought a pair of Polar Blue Convicts or Parrots depending on who you ask from my LFS. They have been trying to have fry for some time in my 40G and the fry would never survive very long. Moved the pair to a smaller tank and now they are starting to have fry that probably will live. I don't want money or anything, but would love for these fry to live and get sold to happy homes.

Will a LFS take them?

Depends on the store to be honest. As to those that will there are basically three groups... The following is in order of most likely.

Some will take but offer you no compensation.

Some will take and offer a store credit in exchange or offer fish/equipment in exchange. Either is really the same thing.

Some will actually pay you. Some of these will only take if the breeding pair came from their store so they know the stock background. This would probably be a mom and pop store that may know you.

Now some places will surprise you. When I was a young teen I bred fancy guppies. A local K-Mart would buy juveniles from me.

Another option is to join some aquatics clubs. If you have a local aquarium they would probably have contact info for such clubs.

like jaylach said, it depends on the store. I would give your local stores a call, including chain stores. sometimes they take in fish and resell, like my Petco. however they are usually not good at taking care of fish so mom and pop stores are better

If they take fry it will cost them in tank space and food to raise them. They will prefer juveniles that can be sold on straight away.

Hello. The chain fish stores won't take fish. Mainly it's because they have no way of knowing anything about your fish keeping practices or your specific water conditions. There's just a lot they don't know about you. The "Mom and Pop" stores may make a deal with you, but again, they don't know you. Maybe you can interest your friends or the local online papers that advertise deals from the locals with items to sell.

10 Tanks (now 11)

You can always ask. But it will depend on the individual lfs if they'll do it. And it seems also that it depends on the kind of fish you offer. Maybe they'll refuse huppies but accept convicts... One way to find out...
