out of curiosity, will krib parents eat their eggs before it hatches or even eat their fry when it does hatch??? say, they were tired of protecting them or they just got bored; or will they continously look after the eggs and fry?
P.S. i noticed around 80 small whitish eggs stuck on the inside of the coconut shell, how do i know if the eggs are fertilised? Will it be a different colour?

Usually if it is the first batch of eggs the Kribensis will eat the eggs HOWEVER they gradually learn over time and will guard the eggs with their lives. It doesn't always mean they will eat the eggs the first batch but they are more than likely to eat the first batch than any other....

kribs are normally fantastic parents and i agree with what QuotheRaven has said. you will know if any eggs are infertile because instead of being whitish they will turn white and the fertile eggs will gradually turn darker as the fry develop inside. also the pH of the water will determine what sex the fry are. if its neutral or extremely close (pH7) you will get a mixture of m f, if its alkaline (above pH7) they will be m, and if acidic (under pH7) they will be f

ok thanks... just to let you know its been their believed to be 3rd or 4rth batch...i spotted the eggs today...il just hope the male will fetilise them because maybe he won't because i just recently moved them into a 15 gallon tank all on their own and they might still be getting used to their new surroundings... I chose to isolate them from the others because the last batch of fry got eaten by the other fish in the larger tank...

I have to get rid of my kribs!!!!!!! All of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that if I get anymore I will get babies so I know that they arent to old to breed!!!!!

i usually dont try harvesting any fish until i get the 2nd or 3rd batch from new parents.it works out better and u get more.i just monitor how many fry hatch and how the parents act.

Iv've had my kribs for just over a week and already there are little baby krib swimming around the tank :fun:
