hey.
i have a pair of kribs that had not had their first batch yet. they were in a 15gallon 'alone' but they did not colour up or come out of hiding. it was densely planted with java moss and included a coconut shell. for 2-3 months ive waited but no fry. i transfered them to the larger 35gallon planted with larger angelfish, tiger barbs etc and they coloured up straight away and now they decide to breed (or what i think). My recent pair bred in the 35g before but the fry was always inevitably eaten by the larger fish. I have now spotted the female in the coconut shell mostly and the male nipping at any fish that go by. The problem is that i am not 100% sure the eggs are in the shell and have already been fertilised and that if i do transfer them back to the 15g alone, they would not 'continue' to spawn. So the question is, will it hurt to remove the coconut shell now and transfer it (with the pair) back into the the 15g. My second option is to put the coconut shell in a breeding net on its own (possibly with the female) and hope the eggs are fertilised and ready to hatch???
p.s the ph is identical in both tanks.
