one of my rio 400l tanks sprang a leak and ruined the stand, however I have a stand for a 450 vision (bow front) the tank does fit but I have an over hang as the tank is square and the stand is bowed, the overhang at the largest point (corners) is about 8", it fits fine lengthways and front to back its just the 2 corners I get the overhang on. Will it be ok to use as I really need to get it set up and just cannot get another 400 stand (in my price range)

as long as the middle is supported i cant see a problem

my local chipshop has a rio 180 on a tiled plinth and at least 8-10 inches on the front left corner is over hanging the plinth.... its been there for years and is still ok but its nothing i personally would do! it may be ok but i would rather have piece of mind knowing that 100's of litres of water and my fish were not going to be all over the floor one day

I wouldnt risk it, as it will invalidate the tanks guarentee if you put it on the wrong stand.

I really dont have to worry about the warranty, its well out of any warranty.

Could be risky with that amount of weight on it, can Hubby get a strong piece of MDF cut to the size of the tank to put underneath it, thus supporting the corner??

Thats just what we are thinking at the moment to do, see if we can get one save messing about trying to find another stand.

My 3ft tank cracked on the bottom as the surface it was on was uneven. Don't risk it. Using MDF cut to tank size on top of bowed base, supporetd if necessary should be OK though
