I'm getting my new light strip probably tomorrow (according to dhl tracking). It's going to be 40 watts as opposed to the 20 watts I have now. Will this bother my fish? Is there a way to help them get used to it?

I don't think they will be overly bothered by it, or even necessarily notice. I am a "heavily planted" type and have huge amounts of light over my tanks, true, they don't all come on at the same time, but I think it is only the first lamp that comes on that makes the fish jump a bit, the rest come on over the course of about an hour and they don't seem to react.

Thanks-got it today and put it up and it is BRIGHT!! It looks really good though.

My fish still jump a bit when the light goes on. I trippled the wattage from 20 to 60 and they all went into hiding for the first day or so. I've had it on for about a month now, and they are deffinatly better, but dont like that initial amount of light

I'll be upgrading from 15 to 65 watts on my 20 gallon when my kit comes in :)

my 5 gallon will go from 23 watts (2700K) to 18 watts (6700K) at the same time :D
