I'm at the stage, that I'm beginning to add Crustaceans to my community fish tanks, both micro, up to as large as I can, both as a food source, and a balance / stability aid to the tanks... I have several cherry shrimp established in the 1st of my community fish tanks, and don't want to lose the vibrant colors... curious what other shrimp, can be added to the same tanks with neocardia, that won't breed and wash out the vibrant colors I'm breeding for, and enjoy seeing in my community fish tanks??? I would assume not, as they are from different families, but I've been wrong before...

You can mix shrimps of different genuses eg Neocaridina and Caridina or Neocaridina and Paleomonetes. The main issue is hardness, pH and temperature compatibility. You would need to find another shrimp species suitable for you tank water parameters.

I've always found this site useful for info on shrimp species. It no longer exists but we can still find it by using Wayback Machine, though this means it takes a bit longer to load than usual. Because it's an old site some of the Latin names are out of date eg they call cherry shrimps Neocaridina heteromorpha while the current name is N. davidi.
