Do fry grow up to look like their parents? or can they look completely different to both mother and father?

Could all fry in the same drop grow up to look the same?

Thanks
Mike

It depends on the individual genetics, I'd imagine, becasue of the many different colours that feature on individuals, that colour is controlled by a plethora of genes, but thereoretically, the offspring could look different, although I would imagine it is fairly unlikely.

I imagine it would depend on how purebred the parents were. I have both pink and red platies, some with Mickey Mouse patterns, others with wagtail patterns, the product of a red wagtail mother and a pink Mickey Mouse father. If you saw one of these on its own- say an orange wagtail, you wouldn't know of the other (pink mousey) side of its ancestry, yet there is no reason that that shouldn't be the part handed down to any fry.
