Thought I saw a picture recently where there were a lot of snails on a melon in a fish tank. But will the fish eat it too?

Some do and some don't. Individual fish have their own taste preferences. I had a female rainbowfish that liked banana but none of the others did. Most of my rainbows ate rockmelon but not honey dew or water melon. Try a small bit and see what happens. If you are feeding small fishes then cut it up into little pieces and offer a few bits at a time.

i tend to use water melon in my mixed cichlid & oddball tank. I just cut around the seeds and put chunks in, some fish will eat it, others may not, plecs love it also.

In regard to it making a mess, I dont chuck in a whole melon, just a few chunks and see how it goes, any left after a few hours i tend to remove it.

Thanks all! I just dropped a slice in to see what happens. I will say that my fish demolish romaine lettuce in an hour. The bala sharks are relentless. Not sure if the plecso even get to the lettuce in time to have some.

How about grapes? If I cut one in half, could I pop that in to the fishtank to see if they would eat it?

You can try anything out - if they dont like it they wont touch it - each fish has its own individual taste!
