I am toying with shelling out for a pressurised co2 system.

I have just over 2 watts per gallon of light. my plants live but don't grow and i also have a little hair algae.

If I fertilise and have co2 will I really notice a difference in plant grow rate and will it help rid the hair algae?

Yes CO2 will definitely make a difference!!! You will have to add other fertilisers if you add CO2 though. Have you read the pinned estimative index article?

I have just ordered a fire extonguisher and all the kit from the German supplier to set-up my co2 system.

Also ordered a drop checker - is this the best way to gauge the doesage?

I guess I will have to look into fertilisers now - i do add a general one every week but don't know if it's any good.

I looked into EI but I can't really afford to do a 50% regular water change on my 350 litre tank! (I'm on a meter!!)

Any advice on gerneral fertilisation much appreciated!

either PMDD+P like on this site (You can just do 10-20% each week with this one):

PMDD+P

or TPN+ like this method here:

GFs 'pimped' Tank

They can both be done with low water changes i.e. 10-20% weekly or twice weekly if wanted.
