Hiya,

we've all decided its too much setting up the spare biorb we have, as it is missing most things and...didnt check to see if we have a spare plug in the scartlead...we dont. so the biorb idea is gone. However i still am keen on getting a beutiful betta.

when i get my overstock sorted, it will leave me with 11 neons and 4 ottos. i may possibly still have my 2 congo tetras, or a zebra loach still in when i go to get one, will he/she be ok with them? if not will he/she be ok with 11 neons and 4 ottos?

also, how do you tell a male from a female, and is there a difference in there mood/terrotorial ect.

I hope i will be able to get one, i love them and now i see myself getting one.

also what colour would you suggest with neons. (i have 2 cardinal amongst them)

i love the royal blue coloured ones, but would red or green stand out better and not look like they are all the same colours?

thanks for your help x

Wow lots of Questions, here we go:

No Im afraid not, tetras are fin nippers, he/ she will be ok with the ottos, but not the neons or the congo's potentially the loach is ok

also, how do you tell a male from a female, and is there a difference in there mood/terrotorial ect?

Males have larger fins (apart from some plakats) males are generally more aggressive but not always. I can go into more detail about how they are different to look at if you like..

also what colour would you suggest with neons. (i have 2 cardinal amongst them) ?

Again colour makes no difference, you cant mix with neons...you would be better off with a new tank for your betta and an otto

i had a betta in my comm tank till last week when it kicked off and he got his fins nipped

not worth it - hes more than happy on hisown now with his plant and pot for company (lol) but i persaonlly wouldnt risk it again, tempting but i wouldnt do it :)

i have my betta with 5 glowlight tetras for the past 2-3 weeks and they are fine. had a moment in the forst 5 mins though. neons are probably worse but i dont know, never kept them.

it depends on the temperanment, luck and if your willing to risk it.

2-3 weeks is nothing, i kept females with guppies for a good 4-5 months, then they turned one day and started killing them!

most tetra are defo no no
