Will Algae Fish Kill

my son now has baby convicts in his tank and I was wondering if the algae fish would try to eat them while sucking on other things.

It's difficult to say without knowing the 'algea sucking fish' !. What i would say, though is that most algea eating fish are likely to be herbivores, so unlikely to snack on cichlid fry!
