Hi, I have a 12" Common Pleco in a 65 UKgal tank. Tank has six plants, a large piece of mopani and three other small ornaments. I have left open areas so he can swim around. He has not wrecked the tank but he does move about in the plants (eating algae which I cannot even see!). I do not find him destructive but I suppose some might be more clumsy! He is in with 9 Mollies, 10 Cardinal Tetras, lots of Mollie fry (soon to be rehomed) and a Golden Apple Snail. Hope that helps. I have had the Pleco since last May. It was bought as a juvenile. :)

I've never had any troubles with my big plecs in my planted tank, but then again i know others that do...I think it mainly comes down to how much open space you have in the tank, how much shelter you have and how well your plants are planted  .

thanx guys :D

i do have quite a bit of open space.
