...for a 55 gallon hillstream tank with moderate flow and plenty of hiding places to rest. Both are available; both would fit the environment. Tankmates include choprae danios, hillstream loaches, and sand loaches.

Sounds like at maturity, they are nearly the same size & colors... but the gold barbs being gold when they are younger might be nice, unless they get kind of ugly for a while, when they start changing colors

These are wild type (green) barbs, which are actually a lot prettier than the gold-types. They are rare in the hobby, so I'm leaning toward them...but I really like odessas and I've always wanted to keep them, too. Don't have room for both, sadly.

Assuming the species are Pethia padamya (Odessa) and Puntius semifasciolatus (Golden), either should be OK with respect to environment/conditions. The latter is a tad larger, but this is a 4-foot 55g so fine.

I love Green Barbs, one of my favourite barbs. Bottom line is do you want green fish or red fish? Or both?

Are they pretty bright? I already have the choprae danios which are primarily orange. Wish I had room for both, but I don't.

Which ones? Odessa males(?) can get pretty bright. I wouldn’t call Greens a bright green, more of a blending in green.
