For those of us in the USA Imperial Tropicals has a variety of wild caught fish that just completed quarantine. Here is the Ad.
All of our Recent Peruvian Imports are Ready for Purchase!
About a month ago, we mentioned getting an exciting import in from Peru that included quite a few exciting species such as the new Cenepa red pencilfish. Well we are excited to announce that all of the fish we received in that import have finally exited their quarantine period! These fish are all now well-adjusted and healthy, ready for your aquarium. Purchasing wild imports that have been sustainably collected such as these also helps support conservation efforts such as Project Piaba. Interested in seeing what we have to offer? Below is a list of all of the Peruvian imports we received recently. Click the name of the fish and you will be taken to their listing.

Festivum/Flag Cichlid
Cenepa Red Pencilfish
Purple Pencilfish
Common Oto
Zebra Oto
Coral Red Pencilfish

Thanks for the heads-up. They also have the not-often-seen Nannostomus espei on their stock list.

Haven't seeen this one before... It does look interesting...

It's a lovely species, seldom imported due to its currently known restricted range in Guyana.

They have several unique behavioral traits in the genus: it is even more surface-orientated than N. eques and, in my experience, is the most tightly schooling of the Nannostomins. It is also the only species that, in my experience, does not reproduce in a colony setting as easily and willingly as the others but it does when set up in pairs. And because they are adept jumpers, even when floating plants are abundant, they require a tight-fitting aquarium cover.

The slashes on the sides are a fascinating evolutionary detail since these appear in all the other species in the genus but only at night; the so-called diurnal pattern of all other Nannostomus is the 24/7 pattern of N. espei.
