awww thats well sad

When people live off the land what do you expect them to do? The people have probably been eating that species for centuries, why should they stop just because someone comes along and wants some to put in their fish tank?

How are we any better when you see some of the beautiful species of fish we eat in the developed world?

Because they taste good?
Are you a vegetarian? Do you not eat any animals?

If not, then I think it's silly you would justify eating one species over another based on how 'beautiful' you find them.
If you are a vegetarian, and your objecting to anyone eating any fish, then this forum isn't the place.

If you aren't that serious and are just frustrated you cant find them in shops, then it may calm you to know that if they weren't sold as a food fish, it would be much less likely they would be sold as aquarium fish.
There's loads of beautiful species out there that are hard to come by because they aren't commercially bred (for food, or otherwise).

yes i am a vegetarian i cant believe that people would kill any animal just to eat it

Given what we now know about plants...that they respond to stimuli, communicate etc, and are far more vital to the overall well being of the planet than any animal group, how can you justify eating them? ... I only ask out of interest, as I find the whole idea of animals somehow being so special that we should not eat them fascinating, if not somewhat irrational.

people eat gouramis because they need the protien and snakeskin gouramis are one of the bigger fish where they live. Although the people up in Asia eat a lot of plant matter, they still need some form of protien and they don't have the same foods we do. They don't have health food shops to buy supplements, and eat whatever they can when it is available. Snakeskins are also easy to keep and breed in small volumes of water. This makes them ideal for people with few resources and the closest thing they have to fish keeping is growing some food in a shallow dirt pit filled with rainwater.

Okay, just a scenario...

you are in a forest, living off the fruit of the land.
a bear comes along, beautiful black markings.
you have a gun just in case for saftey...
the bear attacks you because HE wants to eat YOU
do you spare his life?

Being a vegetarian is a decision, but I find it an odd one if it's because of cruelty to animals.
I know many animals that would not think TWICE, even ONCE to eat you.

It's the circle of life, just watch the Lion King for crying out loud!

=D Don't be offended I was only kidding around.
