things were perfect for about a year....then....

Dino bichir....dies of fungus
glass barb, dies of bloat
spanner t barb, jumps out and dies, my first in my home hobby.

this all happened couple weeks ago...

my african featherfin catfish succumbed to the fungus..dead...

currently....2 spanners left, one tinfoil barb..and my golden wonder killie.

i tried medicating them..it didn't work....

now, my tinfoil has cloudy eye and what appears to be some kind of rot on nose...

remaining spanners developing cloudy eye.

killie perfectly fine.

I'm so sorry for your losses. To help determine the problem, would you mind answering a few questions.

Tank size:
pH:
ammonia:
nitrite:
nitrate:
kH:
gH:
tank temp:

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior):

Volume and Frequency of water changes:

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:

Tank inhabitants:

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration):

Exposure to chemicals:

As said how are the water perameters? How often do you do the changes, when the dino bichir got fungus did you dose the whole tank, or did you seperate him and then dose him, or did you leave him in the main tank? As with all the fish that got sick did you seperate them or no??

Did you do a huge water change after you noticed the sick fish to hopfully try to prevent the spread of the disease?? Sorry for your loss, but there could be numerous reasons as to why so many of them died.

Did you just recently add any new fish that may have bought an infection in?

Otherwise, I'm afraid that your tank was probably far from "fine for years." Fish may have appeared fine but were you testing for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate on fairly regular basis. I would be very surprised if the deaths you described were caused by anything other than poor water quality. Trying to work out what caused it is tricky without more detail though. :rip: little guys.

:good:

Water stats would be good like has been asked for.
Where is the fungus on the fish.
It could be coloumnaris and it can be lethal if its a bad strain.
If the nose is rotting way bad news, as with mouth fungus columnaris the mouth can rot away.
