Hi guys,
I wonder if I can ask a quick question or two?
My big tank has small particles constantly in suspension, and it makes the tank look messy. I've got both a Pro III filter and an FBF running on the tank, and I've added a double layer of fine fibre to the filter, but nothing seems to get rid of the bits. They are big enough to see up close, and just look like muck. I've tried adding polishing solution to the water to make them clump together, and that didn't work, and carbon has no affect either. I was told to try a dicotimous earth filter pad, but I can#t find one anywhere. Can anyone help?
My second question is about an algae problem that I have. The algae itelf is brown and made up of filiments. It seems to grow mostly on the leaves of my plants, especially my anubis. Nothing seems to eat this stuff, and I'm not sure what to do.
Currently, my tank has a fairish amount of light, and a moderate bioload. It is planted, but not really heavily, and I don't add fetriliser and there is no CO2. This months PKF has made me wonder if I should be adding CO2 and ferts, but I want to avoid having a heavyily planted tank, as it's set out like a section of a stream, and so wouldn't look right.
Is there anything that anyone can suggest?
Many thanks indeed.
Steve
