Hi everyone
i' thinking of getting a few guppies, i think they are absolutley beautiful little fish.I've got a peacefull community of mixed tetras at the moment. My question is that i keep reading about not getting all males or all females. Why? I do not want to breed so i don't want any little ones about. So what is the problem with the same sex????

Single sex is absolutely fine. The only thing you'll want to think about is if you get males only to get a fair sized group (5+) so as to spread any squabbling. If you get females only (and I think there is a lot to be said for female guppies) you shouldn't have any problems with this, they tend to get on well with each other.

I keep a small group of male only guppies. No problems at all.

Yep unless you want to breed them then a small shoal of males or females is fine (I agree about the aggression, you might get lucky with less fish but best to get around half a dozen to stop any one getting picked on too much.

I keep 2 males together, never have had any problems, if anything im sure there gay :p never stop following eachother around! Lol
