Why Do You Love Livebearers?

what are female guppys like ?

Less showy than the males, usually; they've got bigger sturdier bodies and smaller tails in proportion. So they are better swimmers. And, of course, minus that unrelenting sex drive.
I find them very pleasant and companionable, both to me and to each other. They also get on well with my female platies.

So many different kinds from endlers, to ballon mollies, to fancy guppies. were do they end?!?! you can also breed them with other livebearers and get some cool hybrids

Along with variety, they show much more character and personality than most any other community fish. Compare any livebearer to a tetra and you'll see what i mean. :p

exactly. Not to mention goodeids (several species), merry widows (several species), heterandrias (s.s.), neoheterandrias (s.s.), limias (s.s.), swordtails (many more species than you'd think), platies (d:eek:), mollies (lots of species), gambusias (s.s.), brachyrhapis (s.s.), girardini (s.s.). Halfbeaks have been mentioned already.

Ok my turn...I like livebearers since they give birth to live little babies :) Also like goodeids b/c of the whole umbilical (?) cord type thing they have...Also, I watched, even though it was still birth since fry got stuck in her, but anway, it's amazing to watch your fish give birth if you can catch it...even better when you catch the fry and move it to it's own tank and watch it grow...still have several platy fry from a week or so ago that every time I feed or look in the tank and then see them I get all geeked...I like my non-livebearer fish a lot too, but just think I like my oddball livebearers just a little more  although...i would love to get my corys to spawn

Their colors, mixtures, finnage, small (I hate big fish), friendly, and their babies are the easies to care for along with easy breeding.

Ah a soulmate! You so often see posters on the forums implying that only big fish have personality, I was wondering if I was the only one... Not that I hate the big ones, but I did notice when I went through my fishy wishlists and must-try-one-days that hardly one fish one the list was over four inches. And I am drawn to the really tiny ones. Heterandrias, here I come!

Yes my point neon_platys and dwarfgourami! You often see people talk about their big fish and how they can eat little fish (example, feeder guppies) I love feeder guppies too! I buy a dozen or two from time to time. Those fish are beautifully colored. Thier colors outstand most big fish.
