Why Do You Have To Have Your Betta Heater Diagnol?

I have always had my heaters vertical- as the jewel internal that hides them only accompanies a vertical space, they have been fine, temperature always reading up to what is matched on the thermostat, so i would have no worries about using it vertically.

aye, but the juwel filters get constant flow going through them so the affect isnt what it would be in a tank where the heater gets no flow

spose so, seems very minimal flow though, and only at either end of the heaters for about 1"

bloody hell that heaters big! takes up alot more room than my other but its nice :) OMG angel is suddenly happy cos of the heat i think lol!

If that's actually happening, you have very poor water circulation. Might be a problem in betta tanks without filters (God forbid!) but any halfway decent filter should be moving enough water about that the heat will be somewhat evenly distributed. If the filter isn't moving the heat around, it's not moving the ammonia around either, so you're likely to have pretty rubbish water quality.

Cheers, Neale

because if it was vertical the warm water would rise past the thermostat telling it to turn off early. (warm water rises)

but remember in betta tanks most people use air powered filters which will provide little circulation, but not much at all, hence the algae from the dead spots.
