Some of my fish have always swum at an angle when the lights are off on my tank. So I googled it and the only answer I found says this:

Fish swim orientated to the light, so when the tank light is off, the only light coming in is from the sides. If you stuck the only light on the bottom of the tank, they'd swim upside down too!

Is this true. So basically, it i stuck my light on the base of my tank, they would swim upside down???

this applies to some species, endlers have been known to do, it bt to my understanding, fish control their balance with the swim bladder and not light orientation.

Triops, I've read, would swim upside down if the light was at the bottom - the third eye is the one that senses light orientation I believe.

Not sure about the fish though.

My angel does it, as does my ram and rainbow shark, but nothing else does it. I've never really thought about it before, and it's never worried me as a few fish do it, just curious really.

are you sure theyre not ill?

No not i'll, they've always done it, I also had a another angel a while ago that also did it. If they did it all the time, i'd be worried lol, but it's only when the lights are off as I said.

My angel fish does it aswell, it worried me aswell until i noticed that he only does it when the light goes off. Very weird

If you happen to be up at a ridiculous time of the night, you will find this the case,
My sev always seems to have his face pressed into an anubias plant with his back end stuck in the air, :hyper:
