I think my Green Terror is sick. He still swims and eats and looks good, but right below his lower lip perfectly centered he has this growth that looks like a little pimple or wart some sorta growth that is similiar to his skin color and has no fuzz or anything. All his fins and skin and perfectly clear.

What could this be? I keep him by himself in a 45-gallon aquarium.

I am really bummed because I've had the fish for about 1-month and I am really getting attached to him. He is so much more interesting then any other tropical-fish I have kept before. I love the way he moves and darts around and attacks his food pellets.

I do 50% water changes every 2-days, never missing a single water change date since I have had him. He has had the tank to himself since day-1 so he could not have caught anything from another fish.

I only feed Hikari Cichlid Bio-Gold, Hikari Floating Carnivore Pellets and New Like Spectrum Large-Fish Formula small sinking pellets, sometimes some freeze-dried krill.

Filtering the tank with TWO Aqua-Clear 110 Power Filters also using a nice Aqua-Clear 802 Power Head on LOW which gives him lots of air, water temp is a steady 78-79 degrees.

It doesnt seem to be getting worse for the past 3 days but it doesnt look like its getting any better.

Thank you for the information. I did read the whole link url you posted in your response it was very informative.

I did some further research on this, and it seems this is common in Oscars, maybe more so only because they seem to be more popular then Green Terrors?

It seems fish that get this little pimple below the center of there bottom lip have been digging or rubbing against the glass of the tank.

I notice my terror really enjoys water changes and gets very active afterwards, swimming up and down against the corners of his tall tank.

I wish I could get him a longer skinner tank like a 55-gallon verus the 45 I have, but I just dont have the room.

I will continue to keep up on the water changes and important gravel-vacs (because I always fine poop) in the gravel.

I will keep this thread open with updates.

BTW do Green Terrors grow slower then Oscars? I only compare them to Oscars because Oscars were the only other large cichlid have kept in the past.

Well I am off to do his water change and morning feeding.

OHH!! any advice on getting a lone female to keep him company? He is about 5-6 inches and all by himself.

I relize that 1 more fish would mean for sure that I would need another tank, so I would be willing to make some major changes to the house to accommodate them, but if they start to rip each other apart then I would be in trouble since I only have 1-tank right now.

Ask in the oscar section of the forum, as i no nothing about this type of fish, good luck.
