Why Did My Fish Die?

I didnt realise you needed a tank THAT big for goldfish!!! Im sure you hear that a lot on here, provided my estimates of the tank are right then, a quick google calculation: 35 US gallons = 132.489412 litres tell me I need a tank roughly ten times the size of the one I have now!!! What kind of fish would be suitable for a tank as small as mine? I'll have the proper measurements for you tommorrow. Thanks again

O, I'm going to have to consult with my aunt on good BBQ places in Atlanta for you!

got to get the job yet! if everyone in the UK can go out and buy a few scratcards it would be a great help to me!

it really depends when you get the measurments to us. a tank of 50cm's is unlikely to be 13 litres as you stated, more like 13 gallons but of course it depends on what the other dimensions are.

and a tank of 13 gals is nearly 4 times as big as one of 13 litres so you can see why that would be a big difference in the sorts of fish you can keep.

I'd say none of us can really comment further on suitable fishn without proper measurments.

As immediate action though to save the rest of the fish do a 50% water change today with dechlorinated water and do the same every day until you can get them back to the fish shop and start your fishless cycle.

I have checked and the tank is indeed 13 litres, true it is a small tank, but will it be big enough for two goldfish? One Common Goldfish and one Ryukin. Sadly ive learnt the hard way it was two small for 3, but going back to the place i bought the fish from (not the tank) the man who served me there seemed confident it would be ok for 2 fish, 3 was really pushing my luck, i assume it really didnt help haVing a Black Moor in there too. But 10 times that size a tank for 2 goldfish still seems pretty excessive to me!?

i'm afraid 13 litres is not big enough for 1 goldfish, they got to a foot long, live 40 years and are very heavy waste producers. the common ones belong in a pond and the fancies need a tank around 20-30 gallons.

the goldfish is one of the most mistreated animals on the planet sadly.

if the tanks 13 litres it's only really suitable for a betta (siamese fighting fish) or a shoal of something like microrasboras..... better still a bunch of flowers and get a decent sized tank!

your options for fish in this tank are really very limited I'm afraid.

Sorry, but I totally agree with Miss W, if your in any doubt go and visit a local pond and look at the size of the fish in there.
Between my first stint at keeping tropicals and now I was lucky enough to move into a house with a garden pond, and it really is quite a shock to a lot of people when they ask what those big fish are in the pond and you tell them they are goldfish...

I'd quite like to see some pics of the pond and it's inhabitants, if you can be bothered, Schmill?

Sorry, off-topic.

Would be happy to, but just been through the laptop and they aren't on here. I think they must be stored away, I'll see if I can dig them out at some point :)

My 50cm guess was way off, i cant remember exact now but it was thirty something by twenty something, possibley by eighteen.
