Why are my leaves turning brown??

They used to be beautifully green, but now they're turning dark brown but not exactly dying. It's more like rusting really.....What's happening??

could be algae, could be lack of light.

What kind of plants are they and what sort of light do you have over them?

One of my plants started going brown (not algae) and the addition of an iron fertilizer supplement to the water column fixed it right up. The more details you can give, the better help you can get.
